School is almost out here and summer vacation is about to begin. The kids are excited and are trying to slip into summertime already. I’m excited for them. And then a little bit scared, too. I don’t want them to while away the summertime hours playing video games and watching TV.
In the outdoors is where I want to see them.
We have our summertime list to which we keep adding activities. I have a Pinterest board with foods and activities for the summer months. Now to put it all into motion, to find our groove between the wonderful flexibility that our summer schedule allows and adding a bit of structure to the day to give the kids some predictability and comfort to their days. We all need a bit of both, don’t we?
Deep breath, pause, soften. That just might be my mantra for the weeks of summer vacation.

Summer is such a great time to enjoy both the need that kids have to not live freely, and to have some cool activities planned. Looking forward to seeing how your summer goes.
Exactly, Heather! My girl is outside right now in a sheet tent I made for she & a friend and they are all set up with their art supplies, cold water, and conversation. Happy making.
oh yes… that balance we all need and strive for. It’s at the forefront of my mind every day right now… rhythm without schedule…. hope it’s a wonderful summer!
It was a wonderful summer, Annie. It was full of so much of what was on our summer wishlist.
