A Word Revealed

This marks my fifth year of finding a word as an anchor for the year ahead.  I’ve tried to let each come to me organically, in the early days of the new year.  I remember quite clearly, for instance, that “Harmony” popped into my mind on a New Year’s Day yoga class. Most of New Year’s Day was spent in the car this year, traveling home from NH.  I thought that car ride would give me plenty of time to contemplate the word, but it didn’t come to me. It settled into my mind and being as I methodically shoveled snow and hacked away at ice piled high in our driveway. As I watched dried and dead leaves float through the air like butterflies and flakes of snow drift down to blanket the world in quiet softness, the word became clear in my consciousness.

There are so many things in my life that I cherish and that add to my well-being and that of my family and beyond.  I want to focus on those things, to nourish and grow them.  And so my word for 2013 is

:: PRACTICE ::

Practice 2013

There are so many meanings to this word that can be a noun and a verb.  I’m ready to embrace it.

Do you have a word for the year?  If so, what is it?

Words from year’s past: grace, harmony, growth, soften

    I think it is a perfect word…and so many possibilities both as a noun and a verb. I chose ‘success’ or rather ‘redefining success’.
