I know I’ve told you before about how I’ve used Pinterest in a practical way rather than just a time suck. That was my practice this past week, to get out of time suck mode and either avoid Pinterest as a time filler or use it more. Above you can see one of the recipes I made from my “Breads” board, cinnamon sugar banana bread. Was it good? Why yes, it was. Would I make any changes? Why yes, I would. Less sugar. (Yes, inkwench & glimmer00, you read that right.)
Below is a recipe from my “Meal Inspiration” board for Baked Ziti with Spinach, Artichokes, and Pesto:
This was also very tasty and everyone, including my somewhat-picky daughter, liked it. The only change I made was to add about 3 cups of spinach instead of 6. Six cups wouldn’t have fit into the pan mentioned in the recipe!

After the initial pin explosion when Pinterest was still new to me, I’ve been doing something similar…and mainly using it only for a recipe index. I’ve found it to be very useful especially since I’m such a visual person. When I sit down to work out a weekly menu and shopping list, I peruse my Pinterest boards. At least one meal if not 3 or 4 come from my Pinterest links each week. The latest? Corn and Pepper Soup with Avocado. Excellent! The problem is that I wasn’t organized when I first started so many great recipes are buried in a generic ‘food’ board. Takes time to go through all of those now and reorganize.
I have the same problem. Every once in a while I go about reorganizing pins. But the recipes have definitely been one of my very favorite things about Pinterest.
